VALUE DELIVERED
A teamwork approach, fast-track completion, and high-quality installation enabled the client to perform its core business more effectively and exploit new opportunities more efficiently, all with less risk to the data upon which its revenues and growth depend.

CLIENT OBJECTIVES

For this "lights out" project, the client sought to construct a state-of-the-art Tier 4 data center, using multiple active power and cooling distribution paths, and redundant components that are concurrently maintainable and fault tolerant. The installation provides dual feed and parallel, closed-transition load shifting capability, virtually eliminating any risk of data loss due to power failure. All equipment can be maintained without scheduled shutdowns, permitting true 24/7/365 operation.

PROJECT SOLUTIONS

Dynalectric installed a new 15-KV utility service, two 2,000-KW generators, 15 sections of incoming switchgear for internal distribution of 480-V, single-sided uninterruptible power supply (UPS) switchgear, two 500-KVA UPS modules with batteries using static switch technology, four 225-KVA double-ended power distribution units, sixteen 2-panel remote power distribution panels, secondary distribution switchboards and motor control centers to feed preferred alternate power, lighting, power, fire alarm, grounding, lightning protection, security systems, and a distribution system with high resistive ground.

The use of design specialists for efficient high-quality installation and on-site project managers for hands-on problem and conflict resolution; the application of "method of procedure" (MOP) for early identification of installation methods, procedures, risks, precautions, durations, and other factors; and compilation of pre-function checklists to ensure quality completion of each piece of equipment and system, all contributed to a successful project. Finally, by identifying scheduling milestones early, the company could firmly establish target dates.
